Jo Costall

Partner & Head of Property Department

Date joined McKinnells: 1995

Jo is a solicitor and partner in McKinnells who specialises in commercial and residential property work. Qualified for 13 years, she is head of the Commercial and Residential Property Department and acts for a broad range of clients from private individuals to large corporations. Jo’s personal background is in property development and agriculture and she represents a number of house builders and farmers with holdings that vary in size from small family concerns to thousands of acres.

Jo strongly believes in delivering a personal, professional and bespoke service and believes that a good commercial property lawyer should not only understand the law, but also be able to explain it in a clear and accessible way, set in its own unique commercial context.

On a personal note, Jo loves spending free time with her family and children (who can be more demanding than most, if not all, of her clients) and also likes to read, watch films and go to the theatre and music concerts.

Client Feedback

"Throughout the whole process, Jo has been exceptional. Thorough., diligent, polite, efficient and all done with an ability to explain everything in laymen's terms. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mckinnells to anyone who is buying or selling a property."

"I was especially impressed by Jo’s willingness and ability to explain legal jargon simply without making me feel foolish for not understanding it immediately. It has been a very steep learning curve for me and I have been ably assisted by McKinnells."
