Justin is a solicitor advocate (higher courts criminal proceedings).
This enables him to act as an advocate in cases instead of
a barrister. He regularly appears on behalf of defendants
in the Magistrates Court, Crown Court and in the Court of
Appeal when required. He is also a duty solicitor, qualified
under the Law Society's Criminal Litigation Accreditation
Scheme. He only defends in criminal matters, never prosecuting,
and passionately believes in presenting the strongest possible
defence or mitigation on behalf of every client no matter
who they are or what they are accused of.
In addition to general criminal cases, Justin also appears
before courts-martial defending service men and women. On
the civil side Justin specialises in Police Powers, claiming
compensation and pursuing complaints for persons who have
suffered misconduct by the police. He also has experience
of pursuing claims under the Human Rights Act having settled
claims on behalf of prisoners against Government departments.
Justin resides in Lincolnshire, has a son, and apart from
a very time consuming professional career he does have some
outside interests in music (listening and playing) languages
(understands conversational Spanish), and enjoys reading legal
and political biographies.
