Kate left York University with an Honours
degree in English Literature and spent the next 16 years as
a Director of a retail and manufacturing firm where she was
responsible for administration, debt collection, HR and legal
matters. She studied evenings and weekends to obtain her legal
qualifications and left the company in 2006 to start a training
contract with Adie O’Reilly LLP.
Kate qualified as a solicitor in 2008 and
has worked on a wide range of both contentious and non-contentious
matters including employment matters, managing ET claims for
employers and employees, judicial review proceedings, planning
disputes, regulatory work with the HSE, Patent Office and
Environment Agency, Landlord and Tenant work, boundary disputes,
party wall disputes and construction work including advice
on contracts and adjudication. Kate also has experience of
arbitration and is a keen advocate of mediation. She has represented
clients in the Magistrates and County Courts, and the Technology
and Construction Court in London and Manchester. In 2010 she
was awarded an MSc in Construction Law & Dispute Resolution
with distinction from Leeds Metropolitan University and is
a member of the Society of Construction Lawyers.
Kate has a strong track record in identifying
and protecting clients from risk and achieving desired outcomes.
She has recovered significant sums for clients both commercially
and formally through adjudication and litigation. She brings
a common sense and practical approach to dealing with clients’
issues.
When she’s not studying, Kate’s
interests include trying to help her two daughters with their
homework, reading, enjoying good food and adrenalin activities.
She recently completed her first tandem skydive from 15,000
feet.
