Solicitor &
Head of Crime Department
| Date joined
McKinnells: |
May 2005 |
Tony is the Head of the Criminal Law Department,
after initially joining McKinnells in May 2005. He rather
foolishly left the firm in mid 2010, before returning in September
2011 in his current role.
He read law at Lincoln University, before
studying the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School
of Law in London and qualifying as a Barrister. He subsequently
completed the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test to be dual qualified
as a Solicitor as well. He is a Duty Solicitor, qualifying
under the Law Society's Criminal Litigation Accreditation
Scheme, and has represented clients at Police Stations, Magistrates
Courts and Crown Courts in a wide range of cases- from shoplifting
to murder. His cases are regularly mentioned in the local
press, and has had several cases featured in national newspapers
and magazines. He has also appeared on BBC Look North twice
to provide expert opinion on major developments in sentencing
practice.
Tony enjoys court advocacy, from bail applications
to trials, and is determined to always secure the best results
for his clients. He has a particular interest in motoring
law, and has appeared in various Courts up and down the country
fighting to avoid driving disqualifications. He is able to
advise on matters including speeding, no insurance and ‘totting
up’ (amassing 12 penalty points or more), which cause
people great fear and uncertainty. Often the loss of a person’s
driving license can have disastrous effects both on their
job and home life, but Tony is adept at fighting hard to retain
them, and from the outset will give an honest evaluation of
the chances of success.
Tony lives in Lincoln with his family, and
when not at work enjoys spending time with them- especially
his 2 young children, who are even more demanding than all
of his clients put together! If he does get any spare time,
he enjoys reading, playing golf and football (badly) and going
to the gym.
